The Dakota Building NYC: History and other facts

Here in this article you will find information about The Dakota building which is among centre of attraction of New York City and is situated in Manhattan,
New York. It is a historic building and was created in year 1880 by Henry J. Hardenber. It was architected in Renaissanc architecture style. The Dakota was added to NRHP on April 26, 1972 and was designated as NHL in December 1976.

Construction york of The Dakota was started on October 25, 1880 and was completed on October 27, 1884. It is very famous and historic building and is situated along northwest corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City.

The Dakota building is known as the location of the murder of John Lennon who was a musician. Its design is a treat to watch and is well known architectural design in whole New York.

According to ancient stories, it got its name as Dakota Building because during its establishment, the Upper West Side of Manhattan was sparsely inhabited and at that time that part was considered as remote as the Dakota Territory and as a result it got its name as Dakota Building. There are several other stories too. It got famous and its appropriate image in year 1976 when it was declared as National Historic Landmark.
