Here in this article we will discuss about Ellis Island situated in Jersey and New York City and is a famous tourist attraction in New York City. This island is spreaded across an area of about 27.5 acres or 11.1 hc. This island is situated at an average elevation of 7 ft. This is historical place in state and was built in 1900. This monument was architected by Edward Lippincott Tilton William Alciphron Boring and was designed in Renaissance Revival architectural design. Currently this island is operated/governed by National Park Service.
It is a historical place and is officially known as Statue of Liberty National Monument, Ellis Island and sometimes Liberty Island.
Ellis Island is very popular as gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States. During 1892-1954 this island was on top of nation's immigrant station and was busiest immigrant inspection station during that time. During 1892-1934 this island was expanded by means of landfill. It gains and recieve its real designation in 1965 when it was made a part of the precious Statue of Liberty National Monument. By effect of court's decision South part of this island is closed to the general public.
It is among greatest tourist and historical places in New York state and one should visit this place once a while during his/her life.
