Rockefeller is covers an area of 22 acres and is combination of 19 commercial buildings. It is situated along 48th to 51st street in New York City. This beautiful building is manufactured at the center of Midtown Manhattan. It got its main fame in 1987 when it was declared as National Historic Landmark.

Rockefeller has great history and in starting stage, John D. Rockefeller planned to build an opera house on this site but later he changed his mind because of changing patterns of market and build this great building thereafter. He started developing this site from 1930. According to him, during that stage he was left with only 2 options and he was lucky that he choose the right one. He said that it was tough decision to built something and finance it alone but later it proved to be the best one for him. In 1930, this project cost him about $250,000,000 which is very huge amount and he spent this much money for just construction of some new buildings. This building is among largest private building project ever and was built in Arc Deco style. Its construction started on May 17 1930 and got completed in 1939. Mr. john R. Todd was the chief builder and Mr. Raymond Hood was the principal architect for this amazing project.
