Main fundament of this park was started in 1686 when New York's colonial governor, Thomas Dongan, designated this space (where Bryant Park is situated now) as a public space. In 1823, it was designated a potter's field means it was designated as a graveyard for the poor people and it continues till 1840.
It comes in world of realization in 1847 when first park of this site was opened as Reservoir Square which was named after Croton Distributing Reservoir.
